Welcome to the home of

Alyth Choral Society

For 40 years the Alyth Choral Society has been recognised as occupying a unique place in the UK’s vibrant choral scene. The Society was founded by Viv Bellos in 1983 and is the only mixed Jewish UK choir to specialise in secular and Hebrew bible music.

Based in North Western Reform Synagogue, Alyth Gardens, the choir rehearses every Tuesday evening. We perform three times a year including, one with orchestra and soloists, at venues in the UK and abroad.

We share our latest concert information on our website. Please check back for updates!

ACS performed the opera Annelies by James Whitbourn before the service for Yom Hashoah. Annelies is a full-length choral work based on The Diary of Anne Frank. Annelies is the full first name of Anne Frank, now commonly referred to by her abbreviated forename, Anne. The music is by British composer James Whitbourn and the libretto is compiled from the diary by Melanie Challenger.
